COERR Mae Sarieng and Mae Sot Organized Scouting for Life Skills to Children and Youth in Temporary Shelters

   Scouting was organized, by COERR Mae Sot, in Ban Nupo, Tak Province’s Umphang District on March 18, with 100 participants of 62 females and 38 males; and in Ban Mae La, Tak Province’s Tha Song Yang District, on April 21-22, 2022 with 102 participants of 57 females and 45 males.

   The same training was also organized by COERR Mae Sarieng, in Ban Mae Lama Luang Temporary Shelter on April 4 with 105 participants of 67 females and 38 males, and in Ban Mae La Oon Temporary Shelter, Mae Hong Son Province’s Sob Moei Subdistrict, on April 5, 2022, with 112 participants of 73 females and 39 males

   Scout training was aimed at equipping children and youth to learn life skills and experience through their own practice and with teamwork. They learned to be patient, have discipline, help themselves and others. They learned about honesty, studiousness, relationship and unity, respect among group members and ability to apply knowledge and skills for daily use.

   Learning activities offered in scouting included: scout formation drill, first aid, Covid-19 prevention skill, knot tying, weaving, mask straps making, waste management and environmental education, organic farming, self-defense against human trafficking, self-protection from drug abuse, traffic sign and safety road crossing, adventurous activities such as wall climbing, fixed ladder climbing, etc.
